FAQ's

Find some answers to the most frequently asked questions about our Baby Food Blenders.

Can I add hot water to the tank, or does it have to be cold?

We recommend that you only add cold water to the steamer blender

Can I clean my Steamer Blender parts in the dishwasher?

The jug can be cleaned on the top shelf of your dishwasher but the blade and other parts must be hand washed.

Can I disassemble the blade unit for cleaning?

Yep! But please take care to reassemble the parts correctly as per the diagram below. In particular, it’s you must ensure the sealing ring is placed the right way up.

Can I just steam or just blend foods?

Of course! Simply select if you wish to blend, steam, or both by using the function keys on the front of the unit.

Can I pause the unit if I’ve forgotten to add anything?

No problem! The unit can be paused at any time so you can add and remove whatever you need. Just remember to be careful with the blade!

Can I use the blender for large batches of food?

The blender is ideally suited to small batches of food and is recommended for use in short pulse bursts. We recommend pulsing for 1-minute, then letting the unit cool for 2-minutes. After operating 4 cycles, please let it cool down to room temperature before operating it again.

How do I clean the Steamer Blender?

First, turn the machine off at power supply, unplug the unit and allow it to cool down completely. You can then wash the container and lid in warm soapy water or pop it on the top shelf of your dishwasher. Dry thoroughly after washing. The blade, sealing ring and locking ring can’t go in the dishwasher, but they can be washed in warm soapy water - but take care as the blade is rather sharp. Again, dry thoroughly once clean.

I DON’T THINK THERE’S ENOUGH STEAM – WHAT CAN I DO?

A lack of steam is usually an indication of the tank needing to be descaled.

Descaling your steamer blender as regularly as is needed will keep the machine working as it should. We know it’s hard to find time with a little one but we highly recommend that you descale your machine approximately every 4-weeks, or sooner if you live in a hard water area, just as you do with your kettle.

Thankfully, descaling is quick and easy. Simply wait for the tank to cool, then empty any remaining water from the tank and pour in 250ml of food grade white/ clear vinegar. Leave for at least 30 minutes, up to 24 hours, depending on the extent of the limescale. When time’s up, pour the vinegar down the sink and rinse the tank with clean cool water. This removes any loose bits of limescale. Empty the tank and repeat the process if you feel it’s needed. Once you’re done, run the machine through a cleaning cycle to finish off before using again.

How do I ensure that my little one's blended food is lump free?

Try adding a little bit of cooled water when blending to help give a smoother consistency.

How do I remove the blade from the jug?

The blade unit is in three parts as shown here.

To remove the blade, simply unscrew the locking ring and take it out. Please be careful as the blade is rather sharp! You can also remove the sealing ring from the blade, but please be sure to reassemble correctly, putting the sealing ring the right way up as shown.

How often do I need to descale?

We know it’s hard to find time, but it’s good to descale your blender every 4 weeks if you can. You can of course do it sooner if you notice limescale building up, which you may do if you live in a hard water area. Bad luck if you do - it probably makes your kettle a bit yucky too. And we’re guessing you need that more than ever now that baby has arrived!

Is the container dishwasher safe?

Of course! The container and lid are both dishwasher safe, but pop them on the top shelf only to avoid getting discoloured by other pans and dishes getting washed at the same time.

The unit is making a continuous beep. What can I do to fix this?

It sounds like the jug and lid aren’t assembled correctly. Simply remove the jug and ensure the lid is locked in, then place the jug back in the unit and lock in place using the locking dial. This should do the trick.

Why does the blade move during a steam cycle?

It’s perfectly normal for the blade to turn during a cycle. It encourages the food to circulate so the food is steamed in an even manner.
