Important information about the new style of 12 month+ Tommee Tippee Super Soft Comforters.

Since a relaunch of this product in May 2016 we’ve received feedback from some parents concerned about potential problems caused by the shield being smaller than before.

We took these reports very seriously, so carried out a full investigation to reconfirm that we were happy the item met our requirements on safety. The new design does meet the mandatory Australian safety standards, but our objective is that our comforters should go beyond that to ensure our customers are using the safest possible products.

We concluded that this comforter did not meet that objective, and it was therefore not something we were happy to continue selling. We have now designed it with a larger shield, which has been in store since October.

We fully appreciate that some little ones will be very dependent on their comforter, so we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this recall may have caused. The safety and reliability of this product is however our overriding concern, so we hope you can understand why we have decided that recalling the product is the right thing to do.

Is my comforter affected?

The only product affected is the new design Australian Tommee Tippee Super Soft Comforter with the specific age guide of 12+ months, sold since late May 2016 and pictured below.

The older, larger style, pictured below is not affected.

None of our other products in the Tommee Tippee Australian range are affected, and as the recalled comforter was a specific Australian item none of our products in other countries are affected either.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE PRODUCT?

After conducting an internal design review, and after reviewing valuable customer feedback, we felt that we had reduced the size of the comforter shield too much. The new design does meet Australian safety standards, however we still felt that a recall and an immediate design change was required to ensure our more stringent internal requirements were satisfied.

HOW DO I GET A REPLACEMENT OR A REFUND?

At the bottom of these FAQs is a link which will take you to an online request form. You’ll be given the option of a replacement or refund. Once submitted, your details will be checked, followed by your replacement or refund being shipped.

MY LITTLE ONE LOVES THIS COMFORTER AND CAN’T SLEEP WITHOUT IT. CAN I CONTINUE TO USE IT?

No. Whilst we fully appreciate and understand that your little one depends on their comforter, please stop using it immediately. We have previously provided links to some online retailers who appeared to have the old design in stock. These retailers unfortunately appear to have now sold out, but you may still be able to source some in smaller Chemists.

I DON’T HAVE MY RECEIPT. CAN I STILL GET A REPLACEMENT OR REFUND?

Yes, you will be able to. All we need is an image of the affected comforters. If you are no longer in possession of the product, an image of your receipt, or even of the packaging will be fine.

WHAT COMFORTER WILL I RECEIVE BACK?

The option for replacement can be seen on the submission form on the next page.

I HAVE MORE THAN ONE COMFORTER. HOW MANY CAN I GET REPLACEMENTS OR REFUNDS FOR?

For simplicity, all replacements/refunds will be given in multiples of 3 due to the original pack size, for example if you have 1-3 you will receive 3 or $6.50, 4-6 will receive 6 or $13 and so on.

I USED TO HAVE THESE COMFORTERS BUT HAVE THROWN THEM AWAY, CAN I PARTICIPATE?

You need to have some proof of purchase in order to participate. This can be either the comforters themselves or proof of purchase such as a receipt or even the packaging. We’re sorry about this, but as is normal with recalls, some proof of ownership of the item is required to participate.
